On Thursday, March 27, the Mission InterÉTS delegation was given a Chinese-style welcome. Even though we interrupted his morning ping-pong session, the President and CEO Wang Zhenpeng offered us a warm welcome, including tea and fruit plates, in the boardroom. After Mr. Wang’s word of welcome, Lui Ming provided technical information about the company’s services.
Following what was a thorough presentation, Elaine Shi, our guide for this visit, suggested a visit to Beijing’s Olympic Park. As we walked, we got a better appreciation of the incredible architecture of some of the buildings, like the Water Cube and Bird’s Nest.

Having worked up an appetite, we stopped for lunch at Wuke Restaurant. Here we had a chance to talk to Ms. Shi about our mission and even get a crash course in Mandarin over a hearty meal. Next, Ms. Shi brought us onto the campus of the China Academy of Science, an institution that connects businesses with university research chairs with a view to promoting technological breakthroughs in research and development.
