Cruise is a company that conceives autonomous vehicles. We weren’t allowed to take pictures as this sector is highly competitive. However, we got the opportunity to see the cars up close. With their many sensors, cameras, radars and LIDARs (laser cameras), they had a futuristic look.
During our visit, we also met with some members of the engineering teams. One after the other, they presented their respective responsibilities. One engineer worked on the programming of the autonomous vehicles’ software, a second one worked on designing and programming simulation environments in order to test the cars in specific cases and a third engineer worked on the infrastructure of the massive amount of data recorded by the cars during road tests.
In conclusion, this visit was captivating and we learnt many interesting things on this futuristic technology that could be soon be deployed near you.
