We took the high-speed train from Xi’an to Beijing, which gave us the chance to see a wide variety of landscapes. I was particularly impressed with what I saw of Zhengzhou.

As we approached the city limits, we noticed an incredible amount of condo towers being built, as well as various roadway and overpass construction projects. In fact, we were sure this was a new city going up, until Patrick looked it up on his phone and discovered that Zhengzhou has a population of 9.6 million!

The speed and scope of Chinese urban development is really amazing. In comparison, Montréal has just a handful of construction projects on the go.
